Security & CCTV

From CCTV with remote viewing to intruder alarms, access control and door entry, we design and install security systems that protect your premises, people and stock. Every system is surveyed, installed and maintained by one dedicated team that knows your site.

Security & CCTV Installers in Glasgow & Scotland's Central Belt

Every business has something worth protecting, whether that is stock, equipment, cash, sensitive information or simply the people who work there. The right security system deters people from trying, detects them quickly if they do, and gives you clear evidence afterwards. The wrong one, with cameras pointing at the wrong places or an alarm nobody responds to, gives a false sense of security that only becomes obvious after an incident.

Strathclyde Electrical Service designs, installs and maintains CCTV, intruder alarms, access control and door entry systems for offices, schools, universities, pharmaceutical sites, pubs, restaurants, shops and industrial units across Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Edinburgh and the wider Central Belt.

Because our engineers also handle electrical and fire systems, everything we install is powered, cabled and integrated properly from day one.

Security Designed Around Your Site

Every system starts with a survey of your premises. We look at entry points, perimeter, blind spots, lighting, where valuable items are kept and how staff, visitors and deliveries move through the building. We also ask about the incidents or worries that prompted the enquiry, whether that is a recent break in, stock going missing, antisocial behaviour outside the building or an insurer asking for improvements.

From there, we recommend a layered approach that combines the right mix of cameras, detection and access control for your risks. That might mean a handful of well placed cameras and a monitored alarm for a small shop, or a fully integrated system across a multi storey office or campus. Either way, you get a clear, itemised proposal explaining what each part of the system does and why it is there, with nothing added just to increase the price.

CCTV Systems

Modern IP camera systems record clear, detailed footage day and night, with infrared and low light cameras capturing usable images even in darkness. We choose camera types, lenses and positions for what each camera needs to achieve, whether that is identifying a face at a door, reading a vehicle registration at a gate or giving a general overview of a car park or shop floor.

Footage is stored on a secure network video recorder, and you can view live or recorded footage from your phone, tablet or computer wherever you are.

For pubs, restaurants and licensed premises, CCTV is often more than a deterrent. Licensing boards can attach CCTV conditions to premises licences, and clear footage can make a real difference when dealing with incidents, disputes or insurance claims.

For schools and universities, cameras support safeguarding by covering entrances, car parks and circulation areas without intruding on spaces where privacy is expected.

Using CCTV Within Data Protection Law

If your cameras capture people, the footage counts as personal data under UK data protection law, and your business is responsible for how it is collected, stored and used. That means having a clear reason for recording, positioning cameras so they do not cover areas they should not, displaying signage so people know recording is taking place, and keeping footage only for as long as you genuinely need it.

We design and set up systems with these obligations in mind, advising on camera positions, masking private areas, recording retention periods and access to footage. We also make sure you know how to find and export footage quickly if the police, your insurer or an individual making a subject access request asks for it.

For detailed legal advice, we recommend checking the Information Commissioner's Office guidance, but our setup makes meeting those requirements far easier.

Intruder Alarms

An intruder alarm is often the first line of defence when a building is empty. We install wired and wireless systems using motion detectors, door and window contacts and other sensors suited to the areas being protected, with external sounders that act as a visible deterrent.

You can control the system with keypads, fobs or a phone app, and set it to protect individual areas so parts of a building stay alarmed while others are in use.

Alarms can be set up as audible only, send alerts to your phone or keyholders, or connect to a monitoring centre that responds on your behalf. Many insurers specify the grade of system and type of monitoring they expect, so we check your policy requirements before recommending a system.

Access Control & Door Entry

Access control lets you decide who can enter which parts of your building, and when. Staff use fobs, cards, keypads or their phones to open doors, while restricted areas such as server rooms, stock rooms, laboratories and pharmacies stay locked to everyone else. Every entry is logged, giving you a clear audit trail, and a lost fob can be switched off in seconds rather than changing every lock in the building.

Door entry and video intercom systems let reception or staff see and speak to visitors before letting them in, which is especially valuable for schools, offices with multiple tenants and buildings without a manned front desk. Access controlled doors on escape routes must release automatically when the fire alarm activates, and because we install both systems, we design and test that link ourselves rather than leaving it to chance between two different contractors.

Upgrades, Maintenance & Refurbishments

Many businesses already have security equipment that is outdated, unreliable or no longer covers the right areas. We can survey your existing system, tell you honestly what is worth keeping and upgrade it where that makes more sense than replacing everything. We also service and maintain systems to keep them reliable, update firmware, check recording is working properly and fix faults promptly.

Security is best planned during an office refurbishment or new fit out, when cabling can be installed neatly before ceilings and walls are finished. Our engineers coordinate the security installation alongside the rest of the commercial electrical work, so everything is powered correctly, cabled tidily and ready to use from the day you move in.
