Commercial Electrical
From distribution board upgrades and LED lighting to new installations and planned maintenance, we deliver commercial electrical work for offices, schools, pharmaceutical sites and hospitality venues. Every job is managed by one dedicated team, from first survey to final certification.
Commercial Electrical Contractors in Glasgow & Scotland's Central Belt
When a facilities manager or main contractor appoints an electrical contractor, they are trusting that firm with their building, their programme and their compliance record. At Strathclyde Electrical Service, that trust sits with one team. The engineers who survey your site are the same engineers who install the work, test it and sign it off, so nothing gets lost between firms and there is never any doubt about who is responsible.
From our base in Renfrewshire, we deliver commercial electrical work across Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Lanarkshire, Falkirk, Edinburgh and the Lothians. Our clients range from single office tenants and independent restaurants to schools, universities, pharmaceutical sites and national hospitality brands.
Whether it is one new circuit or a complete installation across a multi storey building, every project gets the same level of planning, workmanship and certification.

One Team From Survey to Certificate
Most problems on commercial jobs start at the handover between contractors. The electrician assumes the alarm company will move the detectors, the data installer arrives before the containment is up, or the emergency lighting gets forgotten until the fire officer notices. Each gap costs time, and on a tight programme, time costs money.
We remove those because our engineers are trained across electrical, fire alarm, emergency lighting and security systems. That means fewer contractors to induct on site, fewer clashes between trades and one company accountable for the finished installation. If something needs to change halfway through a job, you make one phone call and it gets sorted by people who already know the building.

Commercial Electrical Services We Deliver
Our commercial work covers everything from the origin of the installation to the last socket. We install new systems, upgrade ageing ones and maintain existing installations so they stay safe, efficient and compliant. Because we test and certify everything ourselves, the documentation you receive at the end is complete and consistent, which matters when insurers, auditors or future contractors come to rely on it.
Power Distribution & Board Upgrades
We install and replace distribution boards, submains, three phase supplies and switchgear for buildings of every size. Many of our upgrades follow an EICR that has flagged an older board as unsatisfactory, and we regularly carry out the remedial work straight after the inspection so the report can be signed off quickly. Changeovers are planned carefully, often out of hours, and we can provide temporary supplies to critical equipment so your business keeps running while the work is done.
Lighting, Controls & Containment
Lighting is one of the biggest running costs in most commercial buildings, and an LED upgrade with presence detection and daylight dimming can make a real difference to energy bills. We design and install lighting for offices, classrooms, warehouses and retail floors, updating the emergency lighting at the same time wherever escape routes are affected. Behind it all, we install cable tray, basket, trunking and conduit to a neat, logical layout, so future alterations are simple and your ceiling void is not a tangle of redundant cables.
Alterations & Dedicated Circuits
Businesses change, and their electrical installations need to change with them. We add circuits, relocate power, install floor boxes and desk power, and wire in commercial kitchen equipment, server rooms and machinery, each designed around the load it will actually carry. All of this can be done while your building stays occupied, and when a whole floor is being reconfigured, our office refurbishment service covers the complete package.
How We Run a Commercial Project
Every commercial job starts with a proper site survey. We assess the existing installation, agree access arrangements and confirm exactly what is in and out of scope. You then receive a clear, itemised quote with a realistic programme that fits around other trades and your day to day operations, so there are no surprises once work begins.
Before we mobilise, site specific risk assessments and method statements are issued, covering isolations, working at height and any permit to work requirements. A named lead engineer stays on the project from start to finish, which means there is always someone on site who knows its history and can answer questions without having to check with the office.
When the installation is complete, every circuit is tested to BS 7671. You receive an Electrical Installation Certificate with full schedules of test results, along with a handover pack for your records. That paperwork is what your insurer, landlord or auditor will ask for, and it is what any future contractor will rely on, so we make sure it is right.

Experience Across Every Sector
Different buildings bring different demands, and we plan every project around the way your premises actually operate. In schools, colleges and universities, disruptive work is scheduled for holidays and evenings, with any occupied areas kept safe and clearly segregated.
On pharmaceutical and laboratory sites, we work within strict permit systems and site procedures, respecting controlled environments and documenting everything carefully.
For pubs, restaurants and hospitality venues, trading hours come first. We work early mornings and overnight so the doors stay open, and many of these clients also rely on us for PAT testing and EICRs when licences or tenancies change hands.
In offices, we phase work floor by floor and keep noisy tasks out of hours, while on industrial sites we handle three phase machinery connections, high bay lighting and containment built to cope with a working environment.
